TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.
It is not without a touch of sadness that we inform you the FSNSS will cease to function with effect from 31 December 2016. This is largely due to health concerns of the founder and main voluntary organiser, David Wilkinson.
Some four years or so we came together as a group in order to encourage financial support and awareness for the then unknown Special Needs School here on the Island.
No one then imagined the amazing response that would follow and through the tireless efforts and dedication of the many organisations and individuals who have been involved, the school foundation is now proudly the owner of it’s own purpose built school in Bang-Rak.
It is sincerely hoped that everyone will continue to support them.
A huge “Thank You” to you all.
Yours sincerely on behalf of all FSNSS members past and present,
Nov/Dec 2016: Rotary Club of Samui are currently completing a security wall and gates to the school, which, if the rains hold off, should be completed in the near future.

The team with the highest number of correct answers will be declared the winners. In the event of a Tie lowest mileage will decide the winner.
The event will start at the car park adjacent to the Seatran Car Park located opposite the Ice factory on corner of the seafront road (As per last year) at 14.00. It started off as four runners looking to beat the previous record of Round the Island Run which was 6 hours and 55 minutes, however the four runners decided to put their efforts to even better use, by using the run as a vehicle to raise much needed funds for The Samui Special Needs Foundation. This they did very handsomely by raising 120,000, baht themselves, plus a further 20,000 raised through the efforts of the Foundation itself. Total amount donated 140,000 baht. There were of course a few small incidental expenses such as cost of running vests and a complimentary payment to the brilliant support team, who provided medical cover and several safety vehicles to follow the runners all the way round the Island. The Runners said that the Support Team, lead by Khun Sadanan did a fantastic job and they could not have asked for more.
The individual times of the Runners, which incidentally all beat the previous record were as follows:
Michael Biedermann – 5 hours and 55 minutes.
Denis Sarychev – 6 hours and 3 minutes.
Laurent Gas – 6 hours and 9 minutes.
Andrea Orru – 6 hours and 26 minutes.
Everyone said they thoroughly enjoyed the event, so much so, that they are discussions taking place about the possibility of doing it again next year, but hopefully with even more runners. So watch this space Folks.
The Foundation would like to thank all the Runners, the Support Team and the Organiser (Khun Ying) for all their wonderful efforts, so that the Special Needs Children on Koh Samui may benefit from this wonderful event.
As one can see from the following photographs the “Special Needs School – Samui” is almost completed, with only a few further details such as Guttering and railings etc to finish. The result is a magnificent tribute to everyone who has so kindly committed time, effort and funds to this project.
The final outstanding matters are:-
a) The completion of Hard and Soft landscaping.
b) Furnishing and equipping of the interior.
The Rotary Club of Canada has kindly sent B50.000.00 towards installing furnishings, though further donations are still required.
Can anyone assist us in carrying out the landscaping? If so please contact Claudia (Eng) firstname.lastname@example.org or Ying (Thai) email@example.com
Details of the “Grand Opening” will be announced shortly.
On Tuesday the 1st March Khun Supattra Jirathiwat on behalf of the Central Group (Centara Hotels) proudly presented a cheque for the sum of THB 420,000.00 towards the completion of the Samui Foundation Special Needs School. A gathering which included a number of dignatoriesf dignatories – Vice Govenor of Surat Thani, Directors from Samui hospital and the Thai Hoteliers Assn. (K.S.)
Since the concept of constructing a purpose built school for Samui’s special needs children four years ago, thanks to the generosity of so many, we are now approaching completion, with floor tiling, installation of doors and windows plus decoration to finish the basics. Help is still required to furnish the school and landscape the surrounding area.
Anyone who can offer assistance please contact – firstname.lastname@example.org
The Rotary Club of Samui have just announced that in addition to their earlier funding including the schools roof and windows, they will further contribute the grand sum of THB 192.000 to complete the installation of all the doors.
On behalf of the FSNSS and the Samui Foundation for Special Needs may I express our sincere appreciation to Rotary and all of their members.
(If you have not yet visited the school please do. It is located just off the approach road to the Crocodile Farm, LHS from Bangrak. After the zig- zag bend turn first right onto the dirt road and proceed for approx. 100 mtrs where the school can be clearly seen).
